So, you have a wedding date set, the perfect venue picked out, and hopefully, your photographer booked but what are you supposed to do now? Well, it is time to let everyone know the when and where of your big day by sending out your save the dates!
You would be really surprised by how many questions I get, as a wedding photographer, about things like why save the dates are important, when to send them out, what information to include, where to order them from, etc. I totally get it!!! For most people, this is the first wedding they have ever planned and there are so many details and traditions to figure out. It can get so overwhelming for even the most organized bride and grooms.
Today, BasicInvite.com and I have teamed up for this post in order to help me clear up some questions you might have about all things “Save the Dates” and give you some really fun ideas about how you can make your save the dates fun and unique with things like save the date magnets and save the date postcard templates!
Save the dates are not your actual invitations but, they are a way for you to give the people you are going to invite a heads up of when and where you’re getting married so they can plan accordingly! They are typically sent out 9-12 months before the big day but if you are getting married sooner than that, you can honestly send them out whenever works best for your timeline. You most definitely want to include the wedding date and the city + state it will be happening in. Also, including one of your favorite images from your engagement session is always a fun personal touch!
I encourage all of my couples to send me a save the date and an invitation when they send them out to guests so I can already have them ready to photograph on their wedding day. One particular save the date I have been LOVING to receive lately has been “Save the Date Magnets.” I kid you not, I ALWAYS put them up on my fridge so I can get just as excited for the day as everyone else. Also, weird flex, but I really do love seeing the images I’ve captured for my clients on them. Click here to view their amazing designs! You will not be disappointed.
If magnets really aren’t your thing, that is cool too! Save the Date Postcards are always an option. They are more the traditional route but still unique as they are actual postcards where you can add a message, an additional photo, and even the address and postage. Honestly, they are SO adorable and fun. You can check them out here!
BasicInvite.com has some seriously breathtaking design and template options. I have been referring my couples to their site lately because there is a design and option for everyone and every wedding theme. I am talking over 900 different wedding invitation sets with almost unlimited color options with the ability to change the color of each element on a card. They are all about the details and making sure they are perfect for YOU!
They also give you the option to have a printed sample sent to you so you can really get a feel for the paper quality before you make a final order. Combined with 40 different colors of envelopes, free address collection service, and free wedding websites to match your invitation set you really can not go wrong with them. Do yourself a favor, check them out here!
